Wedding Venue Advice for Engaged Couples

My Favourite Aberdeenshire Wedding Venues

We are so lucky in the North East of Scotland to have so many gorgeous wedding venues. In this blog, I’ll take you through some of my favourites – there are too many to list in one post so look out for Part 2! There I’ll be covering Meldrum House, Pittodrie House, Schivas Steading, Elsick House, Haddo House, The Barn at Barra and Banchory Lodge.

Netherdale House

A fairly new venue in the last few years, Netherdale House near Turriff, Aberdeenshire, arrived on the local wedding scene with a bang. My favourite element is the ‘Sitooterie’ bar and barn-style outdoor entertainment area – complete with a huge firepit! It’s wonderfully private and I love the view of the gorgeous glen of the Deveron Valley below. With the fabulous 'Hooley' for your reception and stunning house as a backdrop for images, you get the best of all worlds here. Superb service led by owners Louise and Faye complete this gem of a venue.

Fyvie Castle

The castle at Fyvie is a hidden gem of a venue. With its very own loch, walled garden, woodland trails, boathouse and even its own ghost, this unique wedding location has it all. Accommodation is available too so you can make your big day a weekend event. Every girl dreams of getting wed in a Scottish castle, right?!

Cluny Castle

It feels like we have castles ten a penny in Scotland. With over 260 in the North East of Scotland alone, we earn our name as ‘Scotland’s Castle Country’ with more per acre than anywhere in the UK. Cluny is one of the finest examples. You can step out on the balcony at the front and wave to your guests below - great for photo opportunities. The loch and gardens surrounding the venue provide a beautiful setting for portraits too. Along with the super quaint dining area for your wedding breakfast, Cluny has it all. And look how it comes alive at night!

Aswanley

A sunny summer’s day at Aswanley is quite honestly the most perfect setting for a classic lawn wedding. Just look at those views. Combining the rustic barn with the elegant house, you are spoiled for choice with spots for your portraits. My favourite is the swing – you can relax and enjoy some time just the two of you. Oh, and I may have a go too…

Logie Country House

Logie Country House, near Inverurie Aberdeenshire, is an exclusive use venue known for it's excellent service and stunning vista. It often wins awards as best venue and even boasts its own pool. What's not to like?! The castle was tastefully renovated in 2006 it's beautiful interior is perfect for drinks receptions. The new addition of the ballroom makes a great reception space and the surrounding fields, river and quirky features make for perfect photographs for your big day. This photographer approves!
