As a wedding photographer in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire its sometimes good to traverse the country looking for some different backdrops to shoot in. So last October I travelled to Glencoe to join Photography Farm for a styled shoot. I was arriving as the sun was setting and boy what a sight I arrived to. The sun was burning up the sky, it looked like I was driving into Mordor!
When I rounded the last corner and saw the stunning Kingshouse Hotel I was smitten. If you haven’t been – go! It was so cosy as I stepped inside and tried to choose from an array of fabulous flavoured gins. Meeting up with other like minded colleagues is always good too – wedding photography is a solitary job so social gatherings like this are always welcome. I shared a bunkhouse room with the lovely Simone from Simone Smith Photography and it was great to get away and into the fresh air and wilderness. Here are a few images from the four styled shoots I did. And look out for the deer……
Thanks to Jo and Liam for their superb guidance with these images and Gary and Corinne from Good Luck Wolf for modelling.
My next session was led by the fabulous Mark Pacura. I had heard Mark speak in 2017 and always wanted to work with him. His advice was enlightening and helped produce some of my favourite images of the day. Thanks to Janine and her husband from Janine Kirkwood Photography for braving the cold to model. How cute are these two?!!
After lunch I headed out with Neil Thomas Douglas. Neil knows Glencoe very well and has shot weddings there often so I was keen to work alongside him. He also has a reputation for attracting deer so have a look and see if this worked…. Thanks to Gary and his lovely wife from Rogues and Queens for standing for hours on windy, exposed rocks for us and to model Gillian for appearing to look warm on a riverbank.
So if you want to get out of Aberdeen for wedding photography give me a shout and we can make it happen!
Supplier shout out below – these shoots cant function without hair, make-up and flowers etc so a big thanks to all those that contributed. To see more of my wedding imagery click on my portfolio here.
